Revamping Your ERG Program? Here’s the Cycle No One Warns You About

This one's for the ERG Program Managers...

Fixing an ERG Program is its own wild ride — and trust me, most people don’t even realize they’re stuck in the same loop.

After helping over a dozen companies revamp their ERG programs, I started noticing a clear pattern:

  • ▶️ The ERG Program Manager recognizes the opportunity for change.

  • ▶️ The ERG Leaders push back (sometimes hard, sometimes quietly).

  • ▶️ Change either dies completely or happens so slowly it barely makes a dent.

Sound familiar?

That’s because most ERG programs are trying to fix broken systems without a real change management plan.

Here’s the reality:

  • You can’t skip steps.

  • You can’t skip the hard conversations.

  • And you definitely can’t think that a new name, new logo, or new swag will fix deeper structural problems.

🧠 When The Bear first dropped back in 2022, I immediately thought: This is it. This is exactly what it feels like trying to fix a broken ERG program. So now, I’m bringing that visual experience directly to you.

🎬 Episode 1 of my new YouTube series is LIVE:

This series is basically a mini masterclass in change management specifically for ERG Program Managers.

Quick Tip Building on Episode 1:

When you’re taking over an ERG Program that’s struggling, your first instinct might be to “move fast.” Don’t. Instead, slow down enough to assess the system before you try to fix it. The chaos you’re seeing today didn’t happen overnight — and your solution can’t either. Before you throw in a new rebrand or shiny software, get clear on the core system issues you’re trying to solve. (Reference the 3Ps of ERGs for context: Purpose, Process, Programming.)
